TARIM BİLİMLERİ VE TEKNOLOJİ FAKÜLTESİ - Dean's Message

Dear students,

The agricultural sector has undergone various stages in terms of production activities and land ownership since the existence of human beings. Agricultural activities that started with the hunting and gathering period have been replaced by specialized and planned agricultural management in which information and technology are used today.

Agriculture; It is an indispensable sector all over the world due to the survival of the country's population, its contribution to national income and employment, its supply of raw materials and capital to other sectors, its direct and indirect impact on exports, and its contribution to biological diversity and ecological balance. Therefore, the agricultural sector, with its economic, social and environmental dimensions, closely concerns all segments of the society. Developing countries are making great efforts to achieve a more modern economic structure than the traditional economic structure. For this reason, developed countries that had economies based on agriculture in the past provided the development of the agricultural sector by focusing on the agricultural sector first, and then accelerated industrialization with the resources obtained from this sector.

The first agricultural education in Turkey, at the farm in 1846 in Ayamama Yesilkoy- Istanbul, the grand vizier of the great period with Rashid Pasha's command, established the Agricultural School has begun. With the Republican period, a special importance was given to agricultural education. After the establishment of the first Faculty of Agriculture in Ankara in 1948, it continues its education and training at different universities with names such as Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies, Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Sciences.

Until our university prepares the necessary and sufficient infrastructure, our Faculty continues to prepare the technical and academic staff infrastructure in the same direction. Our preparations have been completed to begin education with graduate programs in the Fall Term of 2020. The undergraduate education is planned to be 30% English after a qualified preparatory education.

With our academic staff who have scientific competence in their field at national and international level and our understanding of management, we aim to provide our valuable students with the competencies required by the age. Our faculty uses and produces knowledge in both undergraduate and graduate (master, doctorate) education process, adopting lifelong learning as its principle It also aims to catch up with the information age by raising individuals who are researching, trying to improve themselves and their environment, cooperate, open to innovations, creative, versatile and critical thinking, and contributing to the solution of problems. Our faculty, which adopts the principle of continuity of learning, creates programs not to teach individuals a lot, but to improve their learning capacities. Instead of content-based educational goals, learning and learner-centered approaches are at the forefront.

Within the framework of cooperation protocols made with domestic and foreign universities and private sector companies, which have come to the fore in the international arena with their studies in the field of agriculture, our students will be provided to spend some of their internship and training activities in different provinces and abroad. In addition, within the scope of student exchange programs, we are already working closely with our University Foreign Relations Coordinator so that most of our students can spend part of their education abroad at international universities that are successful in the field of agriculture.

Our students; Thanks to the carefully planned education and training programs, course contents, practical training and qualified academic staff, they will graduate from our Faculty as agricultural engineers who are well-equipped and always sought after in the sector. Our poem; To train graduates who are sought after, not graduates who are looking for a job.

Since Sivas is an ancient land of science famous for its Seljuk Madrasahs and today, education occupies an important place in the social, economic and cultural life of our city, protocols have been signed with various foundations that support educational activities throughout our province, and within this scope, special scholarships have already been provided to our successful University students. . Lodging, training, social and cultural infrastructure which is sufficient Sivas, in terms of air transport, with facilities such as land and Turkey's high-speed train from anywhere has the means to easily and conveniently accessible.
